Williamson County State’s Attorney Charles Garnati is resigning.

Garnati sent a letter of resignation to Williamson County Commissioner Ron Ellis Tuesday. Garnati did not list a reason for his departure, but News 3 reports Garnati previously said he planned to step down in August to start a private law firm.

Garnati was in the middle of his eighth term and will step down effective September 8.
