SIU faculty member Tomasz Wiltowski has been appointed by Energy Secretary Rick Perry to serve on the National Coal Council.

In addition to a faculty member at the school, Wiltowski is also the current director of SIU’s Advance Coal and Energy Research Center.

As a member of the council, Wiltowski will make reconditions about the future of coal as well as the current state of the coal industry.

Members of the council serve without financial compensation.
