U.S. Navy Vice Admiral Nancy Brown (Ret.) tells Newsradio WJPF that the second Southern Illinois Honor Flight will take place Oct. 17.
The organization has upgraded to a slightly larger plane for this trip, which takes veterans to Washington D.C. to see the memorials built in their honor. The flight will be able to accommodate 65 veterans this time, rather than the 55 who went on the first trip.
The organization is seeking donations to make the flight possible, as well as looking for guardians who want to accompany a veteran on the trip.
More details will be announced at a press conference at 10 a.m. this morning, to be held at Veterans Airport of Southern Illinois in Marion.
