Carbondale, Ill. – Archery deer hunting will be allowed on city-owned property at Cedar Lake in Carbondale.

The City Council approved an ordinance allowing bow and arrow hunting only cduring the hunting season Tuesday. Previously, you could only hunt on federally owned property at the lake.

Supporters of the proposal say it should help control the size of the deer population in the area.
