The Franklin County Board accepted the resignation of County Treasurer John Gulley at their meeting yesterday evening.

Gulley’s last day on the job will be Feb. 28. He has been appointed controller at Rend Lake College effective March 1.

Pam Smith, a deputy treasurer in Gulley’s office, has been appointed interim county treasurer. The board is expected to interview candidates and appoint a new treasurer next month to serve out the rest of Gulley’s term – which ends next year.
