A Benton woman was killed in a car crash early yesterday morning in Madison County after the car she was riding in struck a tree.

43 year-old Dianna Reginato was killed after her daughter, 25 year-old Nichole Reginato of Eldorado fell asleep behind the wheel on IL Route 4 near St. Jacob Township. Both women were wearing their seatbelts and the airbags had successfully deployed.

Nichole Reginato was airlifted to a nearby hospital with injuries.
