A Carmi man has died following a vehicle versus bicycle crash Saturday evening in Franklin County.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office says 43-year-old James Easton was riding along Illinois Route 37 near Ewing Road when he was struck by a vehicle just before 6:30 Saturday night.

Emergency crews from the Ewing Northern Fire Department and AMR Ambulance found Easton with serious injuries. He was taken to Franklin Hospital and later transferred to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, where he later died.

The driver and a passenger in the vehicle were not injured.

The crash remains under investigation by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office
