HERRIN — The Carterville Lions improved to 6-0 on the season with a 71-61 win at Herrin to open SIRR Ohio conference play.
Colton Hawkins led four Lions win double figures with 24 points. Maddox Gulley added 14, Harper Lustenberger 13, and Max Lustenberger 10.
Jaxton Faulkenberry led the Tigers with 18 points. Jamonta McKnight added 17 for Herrin, who falls to 3-2 on the season.
Up next, it will be a quick turnaround for Carterville who will tangle with another unbeaten, 7-0 Waltonville, at 10:00 Saturday in Carbondale, the opening game of day two of the Illinois Get Down Shootout. Herrin is off until Tuesday when the Tigers will visit Carbondale.
