CARBONDALE, Ill. (WJPF) – A suspect in an armed robbery in Carbondale has been identified.

The robbery happened Monday December 30 at a Caseys on west 13 where the suspect entered the business, displayed a firearm and demanded money. 

Officers have identified the suspect as 27 year old Jonquel Gaston of Carbondale.  

Investigators coordinated with law enforcement in Champaign County where he was arrested.

Gaston is charged with Armed Robbery and being an Armed Habitual Criminal.   

Gaston is incarcerated in the Champaign County Jail awaiting extradition to Jackson County.
