SPRINGFIELD, IL. (WJPF) – Attorney General Lisa Madigan has joined thirty-three other state attorney’s general in calling on the FCC to do more to stop illegal robo-calls and number spoofing.
Spoofing is when a call appears to come from one phone number, but is actually coming from a different one, making it hard to identify the caller or trace the call.
In 2017, the FCC received 4.5 million complaints regarding robo-calls. Illinoisans filed nearly 300,000 complaints about them that same year.
