The Illinois House has voted to approve a 72 hour waiting period for the purchase of guns in Illinois.

The idea is to give someone rushing out to buy a gun time to cool off by making them wait longer to take delivery of the firearm.

Current law only requires the three-day wait for handguns. The bill now moves to the senate.
