At the Marion City Council meeting Monday night, a new city commissioner was appointed.

Monte Blue, former Williamson County Corner and owner of Blue Funeral Home will fill the seat previously held by now mayor, Anthony Rinella.

Blue was one of six men who wanted the job. Each candidate had five minutes to convince the council of their qualifications before answering questions from the council.

Blue’s appointment will last for 14 months. The city will elect a new commissioners and a mayor in 2019. Blue says he plan to run.
