Both sides of the lawsuit between the American Civil Liberties Union and the State of Illinois involving staff at the Harrisburg Illinois Youth Center will be in court today in Chicago.

The ACLU claims staff at the IYC unfairly sought charges against teens housed there for quote trivial matters – going out on their own to do so when the department of juvenile justice didn’t feel they were necessary.

The ACLU is asking the court to stop that practice.

The department of juvenile justice said many of the issues the ACLU is pointing out that actually fall outside of the department of juvenile justice’s control.
