There have been layoffs at New Future Coal Mine in Galatia this week.

Parent Company American Coal said that its production schedule and manpower had to be reduced after adverse mining conditions were encountered underground.

Employees said there was a roof collapse last week.

The company has not released the number of coal miners laid off.
