State troopers are warning that the deer are definitely on the move.

This past weekend, state troopers handled 14 crashes involving deer and 11 of them were in Jackson County.

Authorities say you need to call them if you hit a deer and your car is not driveable. If you are able to drive, you should still call police to have them file a report for your insurance company, but you don’t have to have them come handle the crash.

If you hit a deer and want to take it home for the meat, you are allowed to do so, but are supposed to report it to IDNR.
