Sheila Simon, the former Lt. Governor and current Democratic state senate candidate received two key endorsements Monday.
The labor union AFSCME and the Illinois Education Association, whom combined represent over two hundred thousand workers backed the candidate.
The endorsement comes at a critical time for the AFSCME Union which is currently at an impasse in negotiotions over their contract with the state.
Simon told the crowd Monday that Governor Bruce Rauner’s contract proposal is a drastic attack on working families.
However, a judge sided with the Republican Governor last week, saying the union leaders should agree to the state’s terms in the contract.
