The Pony Cabaret and Steakhouse may reopen in downtown Carbondale, pending a decision by the Carbondale City Council on the club’s liquor license.

Last June, the Pony’s liquor license renewal was denied, but after appeals to the state, that decision was reversed. The club has remained closed during the appeals. If the license is renewed tonight, owner Jerry Westlund told The Southern Illinoisan The Pony would be re-opened within 30 days.
