Civil War graffiti inside Giant City State Park and the Jackson County Courthouse were added to the National Register of Historic Places.

The Thompson Brothers Rock Art site was once a staging ground for Union troops. Names of three Union supporters are carved into the face of one of the rocks, presumably as a warning to Confederate soldiers or sympathizers.

Property consultants tout the Jackson County Courthouse’s architecture as reason for its addition to the Register.
