A crash on IL Rt. 37 yesterday afternoon brought down power lines in West Frankfort.

According to the IL State Police, 22-year old Michael Caraballo was heading northbound on Rt. 37 and was making an eastbound turn onto Saint Louis St. Carabello ended up hitting a utility pole with the trailer his semi was pulling, which ended up bringing the pole down.

Rt. 37 had to be closed for approximately two hours while the area was worked on to ensure safe travel.

Caraballo was cited for improper turning, and power has been restored to the area surrounding the intersection.
