CHICAGO (AP) — The candidates for Illinois governor are making their case to voters in the third and final televised debate ahead of the November election.

Gov. Pat Quinn is focusing on Illinois’ drop in unemployment since he took office in 2009. The Chicago Democrat seeking a second full term says he’s getting the job done.

Republican businessman Bruce Rauner says he’s financially independent and can change the system in Springfield. That’s been one of the venture capitalists’ major themes of his campaign.

Monday evening’s debate is sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Illinois and broadcast by WLS-TV in Chicago.

The election is Nov. 4 and the governor’s race is one of the most competitive and expensive in the country.
