fake letter

Johnson County, Ill. – A fake letter is making its way around southern Illinois, making a claim that an oil-and-gas lease signed with Woolsey Energy Company has been terminated.

The letter is reportedly sent to residents in Johnson County that may have leased their land to Woolsey Energy for the use of fracking. Representatives with the company say it did not come from them and they are working with law enforcement on possible mail fraud and forgery charges.

The letter states the company is terminating an oil-and-gas lease due to scientific evidence about the harms of fracking and pending legal action. The letter says the contract is an “unconscionable contract.”

Woolsey Energy says if you receive a letter like this, contact the company right away.
