Researchers have identified four counties in Southern Illinois as being at high risk of becoming a Zika hot spot.

Saint Louis University researchers say Jackson, Alexander, Pulaski and Pope counties are high risk based on modeling on the two routes of Zika transmission – mosquito bites and sexual transmission.

The researchers studied 3100 counties in the United States and determined that the four southern Illinois counties are among about 500 in the country at high risk.
