Indiana-based American Commercial Lines is accused of dumping toxic waste into the Ohio River at its Cairo facility.

A report released in early 2015 showed that the Ohio River is the most polluted body of water in the U.S. for seven years straight. This was according to a report done by the Ohio River Valley Sanitation Commission and their Toxic Release Inventory.

According to reports, the Environmental Protection Agency has records of multiple cases where the shipping company dumped water with fecal matter that was 100 times higher than the limit.

The claims were made by the U.S. Attorney’s Office and the company could face millions of dollars’ worth of fines.
