JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ill. (WJPF) – A Jefferson County man has been found guilty in the death of his wife.

The verdict came down Friday March 27th after about three hours of deliberation. 52 year old John Finney was convicted on multiple counts of murder.

Prosecutors say Amy Jo Finney was found shot inside a vehicle Finney was driving after a traffic stop in September of 2025. Investigators believe she was killed a day earlier inside her home.

The trial lasted several days. The defense called no witnesses and Finney did not testify.

Sentencing will be scheduled at a later date.
