Thursday night Herrin's school board hired Stephanie Allen as their next athletic director, marking the first time the Herrin Athletic Department will be headed up by a woman. It was a jampacked episode Saturday with the news of SIU parting ways with men's basketball coach Bryan Mullins, both Meridian and Benton are competing for boys basketball state titles Saturday, and they found time to slip in some Cardinals and NFL talk too.
The Crab Orchard Trojans started the season at 5-0 and have since increased that win total to 6-0. It was an easy choice for the first Team of the Week of the basketball season. Matt Varney visited with coach of the Trojans, Jon Brown and discussed the team:
