Herrin High School girls basketball coach Chris Roberts said Tuesday he is stepping away from his position after 5 seasons with the Tigers. Herrin finished 16-14 this season and captured the West Frankfort Mid-Winter Classic last month. Assistant coach Mike Mooneyham is also stepping aside:
The West Frankfort Redbirds stunned Nashville last Friday night 50-41 for their first win of the conference season and were named Team of the Week thanks to the big upset. The Johnston City Indians had to fight for a win over #14 Auburn last week but they came out on top 16-8. Now they're headed to #11 Breese (Mater Dei) this Saturday, a team that presents a lot of problems.
