CARBONDALE — Carterville, the top-ranked team in 2A, followed up a doubleheader split Saturday with 3A number one Chatham Glenwood by pounding 3A number three Waterloo 8-2 Tuesday night at SIU’s Charlotte West Stadium.

Taryn Ford and Masyn Kries both homered to support Caidence Phillips, who struck out 16 in the complete game win.

Carterville improves to 30-1 on the season. The Lady Lions close out the regular season with home games against 1A ranked teams Sparta (8th) and Edwards County (11th).
