Southern Illinois University in Carbondale has a new interim provost.

The campus’ interim chancellor, Paul Sarvela, has asked graduate school interim dean Susan Ford to take on the new role.

Sarvela says he made that move after consulting with what he calls key constituency groups on campus.

Jim Garvey, the campus’ interim vice chancellor for research, will fill Ford’s void in the graduate school.

The appointments require approval by the SIU Board of Trustees next month.

John Nicklow, the campus’ former provost, was reassigned to administrative duties with the College of Engineering this week.
