CAVE-IN-ROCK, Ill. (WJPF) – State Senator Paul Jacobs and State Representative Patrick Windhorst are urging the continued negotiations to restore service of the Cave-in-Rock Ferry.
The ferry stopped operating July 1 after the previous funding agreement expired without a new contract in place. Negotiations have continued, but the ferry remains closed, forcing residents, workers, businesses and travelers to use lengthy alternate routes.
Windhorst says he and Jacobs have been in contact with Kentucky legislators, transportation officials, and the ferry operator to discuss and offer possible solutions to the stalled negotiations.
