MT. VERNON, Ill. (WJPF) – A woman has been charged with First Degree Murder in Mt. Vernon

On July 28, just after 7:30pm, multiple agencies responded to 409 S 20th Street for a report of a male unconscious and bleeding.

Upon arrival, a male suffering from a stab wound was located, leading officers to quickly locate and arrest 31 year old Quenzie Favors.

The victim was identified as 49 year old Chad James. He was treated at the scene, then taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

Favors was originally taken to the Mt. Vernon Police department, but was later charged and taken to the Jefferson County Jail.
