The NFL Draft came and went this past weekend with no Saluki taken among the 259 selections.  Despite that, there were multiple Salukis that turned enough heads to gain invitations to mini-camps.

Saluki defensive tackle Keenan Agnew received an invite to the New York Jets’ mini-camp Sunday morning.  On Monday, Agnew also received a invite to the Tennessee Titans’ mini-camp.  Agnew had 104 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, and 10 sacks in 55 games from 2018 to 2022 with SIU.

Star wide receiver Avante Cox was invited to the Baltimore Ravens’ mini-camp later Sunday.  At SIU, Cox caught 202 passes for 2,806 yards and 23 touchdowns from 2019 to 2022 with the Salukis.  He also rushed for 523 yards on 64 rush attempts with four touchdowns on the ground.

Star running back Javon Williams Jr. received an invitation to the Washington Commanders’ mini-camp Monday morning.  The Centralia native rushed for 2,597 yards on 516 attempts, bulldozing in 43 touchdowns on the ground from 2018 to 2022 at SIU.  He tossed 52 passes during his time at SIU and completed 30 of them for 604 yards and five touchdowns.  Williams also caught 64 passes for 630 yards and two touchdowns.
