HARRISBURG, IL. (WJPF) – Brian Burns is scheduled to appear in a Saline County Courtroom Tuesday.

The outcome of the pre-trial hearing will determine if the former Harrisburg doctor is mentally fit to stand trial in the 2016 murder of his estranged wife Carla.

Burns’ attorney requested the mental fitness evaluation in January.

Brian Burns is already serving a twenty year prison sentence for attempting to arrange the kidnapping of the state’s attorney that was prosecuting the murder case against him.
