CARBONDALE, IL. (WJPF) – A Pinckneyville native has been tapped to be the next chancellor of SIU Carbondale.

The University’s Board of Trustees will vote Thursday on whether to appoint John Dunn as Interim Chancellor.

If he’s approved, Dunn will fill that role for until a permanent replacement for the late Carlo Montemagno can be found. Dunn will not be candidate for the permanent job.

From 2002 – 2006 Dunn served as SIU’s provost and vice chancellor of academic affairs. In 2007 he was appointed the president of Western Michigan University. He remained there for ten years until his retirement in 2017.
