WILLIAMSON COUNTY, IL. (WJPF) — A Hurst man has been sentenced to five years in state prison, the consequence of violating his original probationary sentence on a firearm charge.

22-year-old Gage McKnight was originally charged in 2015 with aggravated discharge of a firearm after shooting a gun inside a Herrin building. At that time he pleaded guilty to the charge and was later sentenced to probation.

According to a news release from Williamson County State’s Attorney Brandon Zanotti, McKnight violated his probation by testing positive for illegal drug use.
