For now, sentencing will go on as scheduled for Gaege Bethune, the 24-year-old Eldorado man convicted of murder in the 2014 death of Pravin Varughese.

A motion had been filed requesting the judge allow the withdrawal of defense attorney Michael Wepsiec. Bethune saying that he wasn’t happy with the representation he had received.

But with no attorney ready to step in and sentencing for Bethune scheduled for the 15th, Judge Mark Clarke denied the motion, refusing to drag the ordeal out any longer.

If Bethune is able to secure an attorney before sentencing, the withdrawal issue may be reconsidered.
