The City of Carbondale has recognized Officers Trey Harris and Corey Brinkley with the Chief’s medal of Valor, the highest honor awarded by the Carbondale Police Department.

Harris and Brinkley earned the medals while pursuing armed suspects on July 31, 2016. The department said the officers demonstrated a great degree of selflessness, courage and devotion to duty despite great personal risk. Officer Harris was shot and injured during that pursuit.
