Former Lt. Gov. Sheila Simon is considering a run for the State Senate.

Simon is considering running for the seat which will be vacated by State Sen. Dave Luechtefeld at the end of his term. After legislative districts were re-drawn, Luechtefeld no longer lived within the 58th district.

Republican Paul Schimpf, who unsuccessfully ran for Illinois Attorney General in 2014, has also said he is interested in running for the seat. Schimpf lives in Waterloo.
