SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — An Illinois Army National Guard staff sergeant has been arrested on aggravated criminal sexual abuse charges.

Illinois State Police on Thursday arrested 33-year-old Michael R. Evrley of Pana at the Illinois Department of Corrections Training Academy in Springfield.

Authorities say the charges stem from incidents that occurred in Christian County involving a female juvenile.

The allegations against Evrley were originally brought to the state police by National Guard officials.

Evrley’s bond was set at $50,000, and he is being held in the Sangamon County Jail. Authorities say the investigation is ongoing.

It wasn’t immediately known if Evrley has legal representation.
