A Cairo man has been arrested for the alleged murder of a Cairo woman.

43-year old Christopher Simpkins has been charged with three counts of murder, after allegedly striking 25-year old Gloria Wiggins with his fists and knees, leading to her death. Cairo officers were called to Wiggins’ home to do a wellness check on Thursday, where she was found dead inside.

Simpkins is currently being held in the Tri-County Detention Center in Ullin.

The Illinois State Police continues to investigate.
