CHICAGO (AP) — Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner is expected to sign an executive order his office says is intended to empower veterans and minorities.

The Winnetka Republican is scheduled to sign the order today, after participating in a service event to mark Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

He’ll join volunteers with City Year Chicago to complete projects at Gage Park High School in Chicago.

Rauner has issued several executive orders since taking office last week. One order froze non-essential spending. Another banned employees in the executive branch from taking jobs as lobbyists for one year after leaving their state position.
