SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — Members of Illinois’ 99th General Assembly are to be sworn in during two ceremonies.

The ceremony for the 118 members of the Illinois House is to take place at noon Wednesday at the University of Illinois Springfield.

The ceremony for the Senate’s 59 members will take place in the Capitol chambers at the same time.

Democrats maintain strong majorities in both chambers as Illinois enters its first divided government in more than a decade. Republican Gov. Bruce Rauner was sworn in Monday.

Senate Democrats lost one seat in the Senate during the November election, reducing their veto-proof supermajority slightly to 39 members. House Democrats’ will keep a 71-member supermajority in the new session.

House and Senate members will choose their chamber leaders in a vote following the swearing-in ceremony.
