SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) – The Illinois House has approved a measure that would require counties to increase the daily rate for people serving on juries.

Rep. Kelly Burke sponsored the idea. It would increase juror pay to $25 for the first day and $50 for each additional day.

State law currently allows minimum pay of $4 to $10 a day, depending on the county.

The House approved it 67-46. It returns to the Senate.
