SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — A Chicago hedge fund manager has donated another $1 million to GOP Illinois governor candidate Bruce Rauner, according to state campaign records.

Citadel LLC founder and CEO Kenneth Griffin’s donation was reported in records released Friday, bringing his total donations to Rauner to $4.58 million, the Chicago Sun-Times reported (http://bit.ly/1mq0wG5 ). That money includes cash or in-kind services since last year, according to state campaign records.

Records show Griffin has lent his jet to Rauner and in June donated $2.5 million to Rauner’s campaign.

Rauner is challenging Democratic Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn in the November election.

Quinn’s campaign spokeswoman Izabela Miltko said the contributions support “Rauner’s efforts to eclipse the interest of the middle class and put their economic security at risk.”

Among Quinn’s biggest supporters are labor unions, which have contributed millions to his campaign and for anti-Rauner advertising.

Rauner’s campaign declined comment on the contribution or the Quinn campaign’s statement.
