Hamilton County, Ill. – A man has been sentenced to 8 and a half years in prison after pleading guilty to a child pornography charge.

29-year-old Brandon Skelton entered the plea Thursday. He was originally arrested for retail theft and when his friends used Skelton’s cell phone to raise bail, they discovered child porn and turned him in to police.

The original retail theft charge was dropped, along with four others.

Skelton is required to register as a sex offender and will serve an undetermined amount of time of mandatory supervised release.
