Sunday night at 11:20 Jackson County Sheriff’s Deputy attempted to perform a traffic stop on a vehicle parked in the middle of Arial Drive in Murphysboro. The driver of the vehicle then sped off at a high rate of speed until losing control of his vehicle at Chautauqua Rd and Pump House Rd.
The driver bailed from the car and proceeded to flee on foot, but was located roughly 150 feet away in a wooded area. The driver 37 Eli Rodemaker of Wyoming was taken into custody and due to injuries was taken to St. Josephs Memorial Hospital for treatment. Rodemaker has been charged with aggravated fleeing and eluding a Police officer, DUI, and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
