Carbondale City Council Paints Grim Budget Picture

Carbondale City Leaders say the town faces a big shortfall when it comes to next year’s budget.

The City Council met yesterday and City Manager Kevin Baity says the town is facing a possible deficit of $730,000 dollars for next year’s budget.

He asked the council for guidance during the meeting yesterday in crafting the budget, a process that must be completed this Spring.

City Council members proposed ideas like increasing the home rule sales tax, increasing the hotel-motel tax rate or increasing general fees for services and licenses.
