Former Carterville School Official Pleads Guilty To Embezzlement And Theft

A former business official with Carterville schools admitted he stole money from the district.

31-year-old Todd Frazier pleaded guilty yesterday in federal court to embezzlement and theft charges.

Frazier admits he was working as the district's treasurer and payroll officer when he pocketed between $70,000 and $140,000 in the fiscal year ending in June of 2010.

Authorities have alleged Frazier carried out the scheme from August 2008 through February 2012, when he was fired after an audit revealed missing funds.

Frazier faces up to a decade in prison when sentenced May 8. He also must pay restitution.
