Police say the latest robbery attempt occurred at 8:53 p.m. Sunday at the Amstar on Walnut Street. A masked man displayed a handgun and demanded money, but after the clerk said no, the suspect took off his mask, put his gun in his pocket and walked away.

Police say the suspect is a black male, around 5-feet-9-inches tall and 240 pounds. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 684-2121.

The night before, a woman was arrested for trying to rob the same convenient store with a knife.
