Blagojevich Associates Come Under Fire In Court

A witness from former Gov. Rod Blagojevich's trial has testified at the sentencing hearing of a Chicago-area businessman convicted of bribing doctors for referrals to surgery centers.

Rajinder Bedi testified as Raghuveer Nayak's sentencing began Wednesday. The testimony is meant to help determine an appropriate punishment for Nayak. The hearing is expected to last two days.

Prosecutors say Bedi helped Nayak by providing him with cash.

At Blagojevich's trial, Bedi testified he attended a meeting with then- U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. and Nayak to discuss Blagojevich naming Jackson to President Barack Obama's old Senate seat.

Blagojevich is serving a 14-year sentence, including for trying to sell that seat.

Bedi on Wednesday mentioned Blagojevich only briefly, saying his 2008 arrest "created...panic" among regular campaign contributors, including Nayak.
