Carbondale Officials To Decide Interim Mayor: Chamber Of Commerce Endorses Monty

The Carbondale City Council will vote today to name a new mayor to fill out the rest of Joel Fritzler’s term.

Fritzler is leaving to take a job at Northern Arizona University. The interim mayor will take over the rest of Fritzler's term, which expires in April 2015.

The meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Carbondale Civic Center. Once the acting mayor is chosen, they can either resign their council seat so another member can join, or hold both positions to restrict the council to six members.

A new poll done by the Carbondale Chamber Of Commerce endorses Councilman Don Monty. He received 36 of the 58 votes. Lance Jack received the second-most with 8, while Jane Adams had 7.
